Hello to all,

I hope each of you received the letter that I sent out in August. Your children should be settled in at Sewanee by now and I hope all is well with each of them. I have received several checks for the brunch, parent's weekend, October 13th at the Monteagle Inn. If you are planning of attending( and I hope each of you will) please let me know so I can give the Monteagle Inn a count. We will talk about the season and what we can do to support our athletes, and restore and make new friends.

I also encourage each of you to please support your child by joining the Sewanee Swimming and Diving Parent's club. We are asking that each family send their membership fees of $75.00 to:

                    Jeanette Imboden

                    2377 Chestnut Springs Trail

                    Marietta, Georgia 30062

At the brunch we will give you more information about the training trip in December and the conference swim meet in Dallas Texas Feb. 14,15,16. . We as parent's have a great time and have had one of the largest parent groups in attendance. Please mark you calendar's and join us to support the Sewanee Tigers.

If you have any questions please feel free to email me. I look forward to seeing each of you soon.

Dear Sewanee Swimming and Diving Parents:

The Holiday Season is upon us and soon we will be gathering in Crawfordsville, Indiana for the SCAC Conference Meet.  I look forward to sharing this exciting three days with many of you.  Keeping with Sewanee tradition we will have a banquet following the Swim Finals on Saturday evening February 10, at approximately 10:00pm at the Holiday Inn. This is always a festive occasion where we recognize the team and honor particularly our seniors and the coaches.  Attached you will find a reservation form for the banquet.

Please complete and mail to me at my home address.  I need your reply by January 8th, 2007.  If you as a parent are unable to attend I still must receive a reservation and payment for your swimmer. There is also an opportunity to contribute to the purchase of a gift for both of the coaches.  I am sure you will want to include this token of appreciation with your reservation. Questions?  Work, 336-768-1270 ext. 1511 or at home 336-760-1788.

Thank you for your continued support of our sons and daughters.

I look forward to receiving your reservation for the banquet and sharing the evening with your family.

Annice Hogsette

P.S. Please note, this year in an effort to save time our dinner will be served as a buffet. The team will begin their bus trip back to Sewanee at the conclusion of the banquet.

Dear Sewanee Swimming and Diving Parents:

This is a test note to see that my son has correctly entered all parent email addresses that I have received.  I am also asking Doug Akers to post this note on line so that if any parents did not receive this email they can email me at cschildknecht@cinci.rr.com so that I can add them to the list.

I would also like to thank everyone who attended the brunch on Saturday, September 23rd at the Monteagle Inn. It was great to see so many freshmen parents and to renew old acquaintances.  If you have not yet joined the Sewanee Parents Swimming and Diving Club, I would encourage you to do so.  You can send your dues to Jeanette Imboden 2377 Chestnut Springs Trl. Marietta, Georgia 30062.  Dues money is used to provide for the senior gifts; the monogramming of the new sweats of students whose parents join; and the set up monogramming for parents shirts whose sales in turn will provide monies for the parents club.  Our goal is to be able to provide those extra things for our athletes that will add to their enjoyment of their sport.

Anyone interested in a parents club shirt please contact Rob Overman at Lauraoverman@Lpmonline.net.  Our goal is to have a sea of purple in the stands at conference championships!  Parents interested in purchasing the sleek black and white speedo sweats can contact Lee Ann Barrineau at macmom1213@aol.com.  Her daughter, Sarah, has sizes at Sewanee for your son or daughter to try on.

You will be receiving emails in the coming weeks about the goody bags for conference and the dinner at the conclusion of conference.  If you have not yet made hotel reservations in Crawsfordville, Indiana for conference, I would urge you to do so without delay.

I look forward to seeing you there in February.

Hello from the far east. I have, with Max's approval, been working on some team shirts for the parents. Actually, I think the coachs and swimmers will want them also but parents first this time. They are purple polos from Lands End with the enclosed Sewanee emblem. Yes, they could be other colors but then I thought how much of a cheering section it would be in all purple.

There is a set-up fee and a per shirt fee for the emblem. To keep it simple, if we can order 20 shirts it only adds about 10.00 to a 18.00 shirt. If more than 20 are ordered, we become profitable and at that point, I say we give the profit to Grace for the Parents Club.

I'm giving you all these details because, I thought that the website might be the appropiate place to announce this offer.

I have attached the logo from Lands End.

Let me know what you think. Hope to see you at Parents weekend.

Rob

Dear Sewanee Swimming/Diving Parent:

It seems hard to believe that in a little less than a month our sons and daughters will be returning to the Mountain for another year or will be coming to the Mountain to begin their college years.  It won’t be that long also until the 2006-7 swimming and diving season begins as well.  Since there were only two seniors on last year’s team which finished third in the SCAC, both the men’s and women’s teams are poised to do exceedingly well this season.

Last year the parents of the swimmers and divers formally organized to support the team and to get to know one another since our sons and daughters spend so much time together.  Again this year we will sponsor a brunch Parent’s Weekend (details enclosed) in order to renew those friendships and to plan those ways that we can assist to make the conference championship in Indiana (February 8-10) a great time for both the athletes and parents.  I would encourage you to attend the brunch if you are planning to attend Parent’s weekend.  It is an excellent opportunity for freshmen parents to get the scoop on collegiate swimming as well as to meet the parents of your child’s teammates.  The brunch will be over in time to attend the football game.  If you have not already made plans to attend the SCAC conference championship please do not hesitate to do so.  Sewanee takes pride in having the largest contingent of parents.  The swimmers and divers maintain that our vocal cheering section spurs them to super human achievement in the close contests.  There are still a few rooms available at the Holiday Inn in Crawfordsville (please contact me since they are in my name).  Rooms are at a premium since Crawfordsville is a small town so you will not want to wait too long to make a reservation.

Over the Christmas vacation, the swimming and diving team takes a training trip to Florida in order to rigorously prepare for the conference championship.  Though some of the cost for the trip is paid by the team from its operating budget, a large share is born by the parents.  Last year, the Parents Club was able to arrange that donations to the University of the South Development Fund and earmarked for the swim and dive team to receive a tax deduction and be credited toward their swimmer/diver’s fees for the team trip. A note about this is enclosed with this letter and details will be provided at the brunch.

Please consider becoming an active member of the Parents Swimming and Diving Club.  Our dues are $75.00.  Last year we purchased buttons for the parents of the swimmers and divers.  We also used the funds to supplement the goody bags that our swimmers and divers received at conference.  Additionally, we provided gifts, flowers, and balloons for our graduating seniors.  We hope to do even more this year.  Membership fees can be sent to Ms. Jeanette Imboden at 2377 Chestnut Springs Trl., Marietta, Georgia  30062.  Please make out the checks to Sewanee Parents Swimming and Diving Parents Club.

For our incoming freshmen parents, you will find that your son or daughter will be a part of a great group of students as a member of the Sewanee Swimming and Diving Team.  My daughter‘s best friends are her swimming and diving companions and I could not ask for a greater group of young women and men.  I encourage you to join the Parent’s Club, attend the brunch, and make plans to cheer the Tigers on to victory in Crawfordsville this coming February.

Sincerely,

Catherine Koch Schildknecht

President Sewanee Swimming and Diving Parents Club
